Dear Carnival Community!

St Pauls Carnival CIC had recently planned for a virtual community meeting on 4th March 2021. Sadly, this had to be postponed. We, along with the others in the events sector, are still awaiting the regulations in line with the Government’s road map for easing current lockdown restrictions.

St Pauls Carnival welcomes over 100,000 people onto the streets of Bristol City each year to celebrate Caribbean culture, music, dance and food with us on the 1st Saturday of July.

As you will know, Carnival is a major cultural event for Bristol and planning such an iconic event would normally take place months in advance, usually starting in November of the preceding year!

Many events, including St Pauls Carnival, have been unable to plan for 2021 due to the level of uncertainty surrounding COVID 19 and the resulting lockdowns which took place last year in November 2020 and again in January 2021.

We are currently speaking with Bristol City Council and paying close attention to guidance from central government to ensure we make decisions that take into the safety of our community, public health and social distancing measures.

We will shortly announce another date for the virtual community meeting to take place in the coming weeks, after the road map regulations have been published and when we will have a much clearer sense of what might be possible for us to deliver in 2021.

St Pauls Carnival CIC appreciates that people are keen to know what St Pauls Carnival will be able to do this year; we are also keen to have clarity so, together with Bristol City Council, we can make the right decisions going forwards.

Please be confident that as soon as we receive the level of clarity required for an event of this size that we will communicate this to you, to ensure that you are kept up to date regarding event plans for 2021.

To keep up to date with us follow us on Facebook, Twitter and sign up for our newsletter below.

Stay safe and well.
